If you login on The Learning Hub, you’ll notice a change to our courses. We’ve renamed Youth Ministry Toolkit to become Academy Basics: The Youth Edition!
We’ve given our Academy Basics course a fresh logo and brought both courses together under one name, with two versions. The new logo plays with the familiar tube theme we used before, with the idea of starting a journey and heading in a better direction.
We’ve been delivering Academy Basics face-to-face for many years, helping hundreds of volunteers start their ministry journeys or build on their existing experience with new skills. Both courses cover the fundamentals, with each specialising in working with a certain age group in church. Academy Basics should be the first stop for anyone new to children or youth ministry. With over 40 videos and activities, this is an amazing resource for both volunteers and paid workers.
Academy Basics is designed to do with a ‘buddy’ – someone you trust or the leading person on your children or youth ministry team. We recommend jumping in with the content and getting as far as you can whilst you find someone to chat it through with.
If you’re a paid worker, you could do one of these courses as a team with volunteers, gather every week or after each module and discuss what you’ve all learned. It can be a wonderful way of team building, as well as acquiring new skills and developing your church’s ministry together. The New Year is a great time to think about new skills. We’re hoping Academy Basics will become a nationally recognised starting point, so feel free to spread the word about these free courses and get your church volunteers signed up. It’s not the last you’ll see of Youth Ministry Toolkit though – we’re going to reuse that name for something else! Stay tuned.
